Akupara is the first silver collectible coin in The World series, exploring how cultures have imagined the structure and foundations of the world. This inaugural release draws on the Hindu tradition of Akupara — the World Turtle supporting elephants upon which the inhabited world rests.
The composition presents the world in layers: mountains, rivers, forests and ice sit above powerful elephants, all ultimately supported by Akupara below. The turtle represents stability and endurance, while the elephants evoke strength, support and the directions of the world.
Struck from 2 oz of .999 fine silver, the design uses 2.0 mm High Relief to build depth throughout the scene. An Antique Finish is complemented by Selective Gilding, highlighting elements of the landscape and mythical composition.
Limited to only 500 pieces worldwide, each 45 mm coin is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity and presented in a dedicated presentation case.
