Skuld — whose name means “that which shall be” — is the Norn of the future. She embodies mystery, uncertainty, and the consequences that flow from choices made in the present.
In Germania Mint’s interpretation, Skuld appears as a cloaked and enigmatic figure, her hooded robe concealing what remains unknown. Symbols of mortality hang at her belt, while the blade in her hand represents the power to sever the thread of life — a reminder that fate can be both feared and sought.
Set at the foot of Yggdrasil and surrounded by figures fallen and living, as well as scattered swords, the scene evokes conflicts yet to come. It is a visual meditation on destiny: recorded, but still shaped by the actions of those who live.
The reverse presents the Germania Mint double-headed eagle framed by Yggdrasil’s roots and radiant golden threads of fate. Several strands appear broken, symbolising that the future remains sensitive to decisions made today — and that destiny may still be altered.
